The Minister for Education, Hon Sue Ellery, has today officially launched Shooting Stars’ Strategic Plan, which will provide the foundations for the organisation to achieve its vision of empowered Aboriginal girls and women.
The next three years will see Shooting Stars continue to deliver its program, empowering participants and staff by growing their confidence, identity, cultural connection, capacity and resources to make informed decisions for their future.
An additional focus for Shooting Stars is to share its learnings in order to challenge the systems and institutions that disempower Aboriginal girls and women, whilst strengthening and expanding the program in a sustainable manner, honouring and upholding the Shooting Stars Way.
The Strategic Plan was launched amongst those who have been on the Shooting Stars journey over the past six years in one of Perth’s most spectacular venues against the backdrop of the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River), where attendees heard the impact of the program from the participants themselves.
Shooting Stars Executive Officer Fran Haintz said the launching of the new strategic plan is a perfect opportunity to reflect on the organisation’s achievements.
“This is a really exciting time for Shooting Stars,” said Haintz.
“We’ve affected genuine change in the lives of over 750 participants in the last six years and today’s launch symbolises the expansion of our program’s footprint, allowing Shooting Stars to further empower more Aboriginal girls and women,” said Haintz.
