Shooting Stars is a school and community based engagement program for Aboriginal girls and young women. Founded in 2015, Shooting Stars is the primary initiative of Glass Jar Australia, a not-for-profit organisation that comes under the wider umbrella of Netball WA.
Now based within over 20 schools across Western Australia and South Australia, Shooting Stars reaches over 1,000 girls and young women, building confidence, cultural identity, and positive connections through engagement activities, health and wellbeing sessions and enrichment programs.
The team of staff, most of whom are Aboriginal women, walk alongside the Shooting Stars participants throughout their schooling journeys, offering support, advocacy, and guidance to help them make informed decisions and pursue the futures they choose.
Shooting Stars vision: Empowered Aboriginal girls and women.
Shooting Stars purpose: Empower people and communities, stay true to the Shooting Stars Way, and challenge the status quo.
Shooting Stars enjoys the backing of Netball WA’s 100 years of history and experience in advancing local communities and empowering women and girls, and leverages the reach and connections of netball to enhance the program’s outcomes.
