Sandfire Resources NL has furthered its partnership with Shooting Stars, committing more than a quarter of a million dollars to the program and becoming its first Foundation Partner.
One of the State’s leading copper miners, Sandfire has committed $260,000 over the next four years to the program, which will support a full-time Indigenous Program Coordinator role, and the provision of a full-time Indigenous trainee at Meekatharra District High School.
Additionally, the partnership with Sandfire will provide four scholarships for participants from Meekatharra to attend the annual Leadership Program in Perth, the provision of equipment requirements, and the support of the delivery of Yarning Circles.
Yarning Circles are a unique longitudinal study, designed specifically for the program, and serve a dual purpose, enabling the evaluation of the progress and efficacy of the program, and providing a platform for communities and participants to drive the direction of their local program.
The extension follows Sandfire’s earlier commitment of $20,000 in May this year.
