Shooting Stars Partner, Mount Gibson Iron, has increased its support to help empower Aboriginal girls and women in the Derby region.
A Partner since 2019, Mount Gibson have contributed to the development of the Shooting Stars program at Derby Primary School initially targeting participants in Years 3 to 6.
Earlier this year, the Shooting Stars program extended into Years 7 to 12 at Derby District High School, which saw Mount Gibson increase its support to create opportunities for the senior participants.
Mount Gibson Chief Executive Officer Peter Kerr said: “Mount Gibson has been proud to support the outstanding work and success of the Shooting Stars’ program as a partner since 2019 and is very pleased to assist in extending the reach of the growing Derby program.
“Supporting our local communities is central to the way we operate.”
Shooting Stars Executive Officer Fran Haintz said she is thrilled with Mount Gibson’s commitment to empowering Aboriginal girls and women.
“We are so grateful for Mount Gibson’s support over the years and are excited to see the impact of their increased support, enabling us to provide more opportunities to our Derby participants,” said Haintz.

Shooting Stars launched its program in Derby in 2015, and now in 2021 empowers 150 students from Years 3 to 12.
