Shooting Stars is proud to announce Horizon Power as a new Community Partner.
The proud West Australian Regional Electricity Supplier has committed to supporting Shooting Stars for the next three years.
Horizon Power Brand and Communications Manager, Andrew Riches, expressed the company’s pride in partnering with such a significant initiative.
“Partnering with Shooting Stars is an important step forwards for our work within the communities we operate,” Riches said.
“Knowing our support is going towards empowering young women through access to education is something Horizon Power is very proud of.”
“Shooting Stars is conducting a world first initiative, using Indigenous research methods to improve their program operations, and we are excited by the opportunity to collaborate and drive the future development of the program.”
The contribution will enable Shooting Stars to roll out a new organisational development strategy across the Halls Creek, derby, Carnarvon, Wiluna and Meekatharra sites.
The investment will also support the continued development and implementation of Shooting Star’s world first longitudinal study, adopting an Indigenous research method called Yarning Circles.
Shooting Stars Executive Officer, Fran Haintz praised Horizon Power for their pledge to the program.
“The value of this partnership cannot be understated and we look forward to working with Horizon Power to continue to build capacity across our delivery sites.”
“A cornerstone of our program is identifying local community groups, service providers and organisations with whom we can work for the betterment of our students.”
“It’s so encouraging to see Horizon Power recognise an opportunity of this nature to contribute to a framework that is empowering young indigenous women in the regional communities of Western Australia.”
An initiative of Netball WA and the Glass Jar Australia, Shooting Stars aims to use netball as the vehicle to encourage greater engagement and attendance at school of young Aboriginal girls living in WA’s remote communities and regional towns.
