Ahead of school returning for 2022, the Shooting Stars’ regional staff have come together for their annual staff training week to upskill and plan the year ahead.
Covering many topics, the week included trauma informed training, introductory sessions on the Seven Sisters High School program and Art with the Stars, as well as training sessions on new software to alleviate manual processes around tracking participant data.
Pathways Manager, Talicia Jetta said the annual training week is extremely valuable to all involved.
“Along with the opportunity to learn new skills and strategies, this week has refreshed my motivation to continue doing what we do to support our participants,” said Jetta.
Whilst the week is all about learning new skills, it also provides an opportunity for the site staff to connect with each other and form lasting friendships and effective working relationships across all programs.
“Coming together as a full team each year allows us to strengthen our relationships and rapport with each other,” said Jetta.
“We have a diverse range of staff coming from different communities and with that comes different backgrounds, different cultural customs and different strengths and skillsets. This week allows us to learn about our fellow staff members and what they bring to the team and how we can bring the best out of each other in a workplace environment.”
The Shooting Stars Staff Training Week is made possible thanks to our underpinning partner the National Indigenous Australians Agency who support the professional development of our staff.
