Shooting Stars have taken steps to solidify their vision of empowered Aboriginal girls and women by partnering with Curtin University on a scholarship opportunity. The scholarship will enable female Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students who are experiencing financial need to complete the Indigenous Tertiary Enabling Course (ITEC).
ITEC equips Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students with the skills and confidence needed to study at tertiary level and prepares them for a range of degrees and associate degree programs at Curtin University.
Whilst the scholarship is open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander females, preference will be given to Shooting Stars graduates.
Shannae, a support officer for the Curtin Centre for Aboriginal Studies, shares how important the course is for the students who take up the opportunity.
