Shooting Stars has concluded Term 3 with many participants reaching 90% and above in school attendance and attributes its success to the organisation’s personalised approach.
Kevi from Carnarvon has achieved 100% attendance for Term 3, a goal she set for herself in Term 2 and has been determined to reach ever since. Through the Shooting Stars program, Kevi highlighted that she would like to build on her confidence, with the Shooting Stars staff encouraging her to take part in activities outside of her comfort zone including public speaking and dancing.
Through her hard work and dedication, Kevi has been selected for numerous reward activities, including the 2020 Junior Leadership Camp in Broome and Rewards and Attendance Sleepovers. Shooting Stars will continue to support Kevi in her development and growth towards her goals and building her social confidence.
Letisha, a year 9 participant from Halls Creek, improved her attendance by 50% reaching an amazing attendance rate of 97% for Term 3. Letisha has shown a great interest in sport and has set herself goals to actively improve her sporting skills by getting involved in community sports events and the Shooting Stars programs.
Letisha has credited her achievement to the Shooting Stars program, identifying both the staff and Shooting Stars room at school as a safe and supportive place that she looks forward to coming to.
In Derby, Mikayla a year 5 student, has improved her attendance throughout 2020 by more than 40% compared to previous years, whilst in Narrogin Chelsea has finished term 3 with a perfect 100% attendance.
Shooting Stars Executive Officer Fran Haintz said these attendance numbers are a testament to the importance Shooting Stars places on building relationships with each of its participants.
“Firstly, I’d like to congratulate these girls on their tremendous achievements,” said Haintz.
“Just as each site comes with its own specific challenges, each participant faces their own unique challenges. For us, it’s not enough to just be reaching our KPI’s at a site-level, we focus on the individuals and tailor our support style for each participant giving them the best opportunity to achieve success.”
