Shooting Stars participants and their families across the eight sites have celebrated their significant achievements across the year at their respective end of year Awards Nights.
More than 1000 people attended the events across the State, with teachers, service providers and community members volunteering their time to cook, decorate venues, help the students get ready and provide technical support on the night.
Awards were presented to those students who attended school at a rate of 90% or higher, as well Shooting Stars Spirit Awards for students who have worked hard to achieve great outcomes.
More than 200 people attended the Carnarvon Shooting Stars event, while the Meekatharra Awards Night attracted over 100 people, with teachers and families assisting the students to get ready.
In the Kimberley, more than 100 parents, grandparents, teachers, volunteers and local service providers attended the Derby Shooting Stars event, with the night showcasing three performances and a fashion parade by the students. While our Halls Creek Stars dressed up to celebrate their year.
Shooting Stars Executive Officer Fran Haintz said the nights gave participants, program coordinators and friends and family of Shooting Stars the chance to reflect on the year.
“These nights are not only special for our participants but also their family and friends who are part of the Shooting Stars journey,” said Haintz.
“We’ve seen some fantastic results across our program over the past 12 months and we’re really excited to see what 2020 holds.”
Shooting Stars students will break for the summer school holidays and return to school in February 2020.
