Shooting Stars is pleased to announce a significant partnership with Saracen Minerals Holdings Limited in a major boost for the Program.
The mining company has contributed $150,000 dollars towards the Program’s eighth site to be launched in Leonora.
Shooting Stars uses netball as a driver to help enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls to have a taste of success to improve their self-image, develop hope and aspirations about their future, and provide motivation to attend school to achieve those aspirations.
Saracen Managing Director Raleigh Finlayson said his company was delighted to provide financial support for the Shooting Stars program.
“Shooting Stars is a highly effective program with a proven track record of success,” Mr Finlayson said.
“It delivers real, tangible benefits by providing the framework and incentives for indigenous girls to take part in sport and improve their education.
“At the same time, it is an extremely effective incentive to come to school and gain an education which will help lay the foundations for the rest of their lives.
“As a WA gold miner, Saracen is delighted to help fund this outstanding initiative and congratulates everyone involved in this year’s program.”
Shooting Stars Executive Officer Fran Haintz said the significant investment will help to harness real change and drive school attendance rates for young Indigenous girls in the area.
“This partnership is critical in helping the delivery of Shooting Stars within Leonora and we know with Saracen Minerals support we will continue to see genuine change for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls,” Haintz said.
“I would like to thank Saracen Minerals for its generous and significant support in helping us develop real social change and pathways for our participants.
