Shooting Stars is pleased to announce it has joined VenuesWest’s successful Community Partners Program.
Shooting Stars was named alongside Indigo Junction and Fair Game, and will join existing partner Mentally Healthy WA.
An initiative of Glass Jar Australia and Netball WA, Shooting Stars uses netball and other tools as the vehicles to drive greater engagement and attendance at school of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls living in WA’s remote communities and regional towns.
Shooting Stars Executive Officer Fran Haintz is pleased to join the Program.
“Glass Jar Australia and the Shooting Stars program are thrilled to become a VenuesWest Community Partner,” Haintz said.
“The impact of community partnerships such as this is twofold, providing both financial support and excellent exposure for our program, as well as assisting in growing the understanding of how important Shooting Stars is across Western Australia’s rural and remote communities.”
Sport and Recreation Minister, Mick Murray, said:
“It is so important for VenuesWest to give back to the community. I’m proud to see VenuesWest are working directly with these groups to provide opportunities and experiences that would otherwise be out of reach for many members of the community.”
“It is fitting that these new charities have a focus on linking grassroots sport with the local groups and engaging with Aboriginal communities, especially following the recent launch of their Reconciliation Action Plan.”
Shooting Stars will be part of the Program for the next two years, beginning July 1.
