As Shooting Stars continues to grow the footprint of its program, it provides opportunities for its staff to grow alongside it, with Latoya Bolton-Black stepping into an Operations Manager role and Tiresa Foai into the South Regional Manager role.
Latoya Bolton-Black started with Shooting Stars in 2018 as the Narrogin Program Coordinator, progressing to Greater WA Regional Manager in 2019 and now is responsible for the consistent delivery of the management, development, coordination and delivery of the program in her new role as Operations Manager.
“Shooting Stars has empowered me through hands on experiences with support, structure and guidance every step of the way,” said Bolton-Black.
“Key to my growth has been my amazing colleagues who have become part of my self-development and empowerment journey, encouraging me through every opportunity and challenge.”
“Shooting Stars is more than a program or a job, it is a family, a sisterhood that starts with its staff.”
Similarly, Tiresa Foai joined Shooting Stars in 2019 as the Program Coordinator for the Narrogin site, and alongside the development of the Shooting Stars program, the organisation has developed its staff with Foai now operating as the South Regional Manager.
“Shooting Stars has allowed me to grow my knowledge and skills in a safe space,” said Foai.
“Our team is made up of amazing leaders who each possess their own strengths and assets. We each bring our own gifts to the program and I love being part of an organisation where you are valued for your uniqueness.”
“Shooting Stars is more than a job to me, and I learnt that on my very first day. It’s passion, it’s history making, it’s revolutionary and I am truly privileged to be part of it.”
Shooting Stars’ vision is empowered Aboriginal girls and women and to achieve this the organisation is committed to empowering its staff and their communities.
