Shooting Stars continues to shine a light on its participants, with four Narrogin students travelling to Perth to participate in a fashion show to celebrate the sixth birthday of 100 Women.
100 Women is a gifting group, whose mission is to enable everyday people to be involved in creating a world where all women and girls can live safely with access to health, education and economic freedom.
100 Women partnered with both Shooting Stars and Dress for Success, resulting in an exciting fashion show for participants Shontae Jetta, Colleen Edwards, Holly McGuire and Kayla Derich.
The girls were selected based on their continued efforts towards their school attendance and positive behaviour in the classroom.
They were rewarded with an overnight trip to Perth, which saw them select their outfits at Dress for Success in Subiaco, before getting their hair and make-up done ahead of the fashion show at a high tea in front of a crowd of strong businesswomen and leaders.
Narrogin Shooting Stars Program Coordinator, Latoya Bolton-Black, said the event was a great example of like-minded organisations coming together to support each other.
“Shooting Stars aims to empower our young Aboriginal participants in their education journey,” Bolton-Black said.
“Having 100 Women support the Program and provide the opportunity for four of our Narrogin participants to attend their sixth birthday celebrations, and take part in the fashion parade, is a great example of female role models empowering our next generation of young females.”
100 Women have been fantastic supporters of Shooting Stars, awarding the Program with a $30,000 grant in November last year.
