Shooting Stars is delighted to announce it has been awarded almost $1 million in grant funding from Lotterywest.
The grant will commit up to $999,200 towards time-limited salaries, professional fees, project costs and vehicles to support the evaluation and expansion of activities that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls to improve their health, wellbeing and educational outcomes.
Inclusive in the grant is the provision of three vehicles, and laptops, as well funding towards project costs for the Yarning with the Stars research, the employment of new staff, consultancy and workshops for staff.
Shooting Stars Executive Officer, Fran Haintz, said the grant would see fantastic results for the Program.
“We’re incredibly proud to continue to be recognised by Lotterywest for our hard work,” Haintz said.
“Our program is affecting genuine change in the lives of more than 350 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls, and this funding will ensure that we continue to make major advancements in the delivery of the Shooting Stars program.”

Lotterywest A/CEO Lorna Pritchard, said the grant will increase educational opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls in remote communities.
“Lotterywest is proud to support Shooting Stars’ goal of expanding into more regional communities within the next few years,” Ms Pritchard said.
“This Lotterywest grant will also fund three new buses, making Shooting Stars staff work within remote communities possible.”
The grant continues a strong year for the Program, which has included the Gold Industry Group joining Shooting Stars as the inaugural Premier Partner.
