Today, August 4, is National Aboriginal Children's Day. This year’s Children’s Day theme is “My Dreaming, My Future”.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are brought up around stories of their community, culture and country. They inherit the stories of their ancestors and culture, passed down through generations.
Their Dreaming is an integral part of our history which we need to acknowledge and appreciate, and their futures are theirs to do with and shape how they want.
At Shooting Stars we incorporate cultural connection at all levels. Our participants thrive on being able to share their experiences and connections with their culture and country.
This Children’s Day, ahead of our Community Launch of our first metro site at Kiara College, we spoke with a few of our participants on what their aspirations are for the future. Listen to their answers below.
