Mineral Resources (MinRes) have become the principal partner of Shooting Stars Seven Sisters program, signing a four-year deal to support and promote the social and emotional wellbeing of the Shooting Stars participants.
The Seven Sisters program was successfully piloted in Narrogin in 2020, expanding to cover all year 5 & 6 students in 2021. In 2022 the program was adapted to be delivered to all high school students across Western and South Australia. MinRes are playing a pivotal role in the expansion and development of the program, having already visited the Narrogin site, where they spent the day with our Shooting Stars girls, interviewing some of our participants and staff and watching a Seven Sisters session in action.
Seven Sisters program coordinator, Jade McGuire, recognises the difference that this partnership will have on our girls.
“With the amazing support from Mineral Resources, we will be able to continue to develop, adapt and further resource our participants, staff and wider community regarding mental health and social and emotional wellbeing.”
“It is so important for everyone to be able to access health services when needed, we are trying to provide this to the communities that we work in and help to develop and educate the girls and support their families to connect with the services.”
“Through ongoing support from Mineral Resources, we have the ability to create positive change among Aboriginal girls and their communities.”
MinRes Executive General Manager – Project Development, Joshua Thurlow, said the strengthened partnership with Shooting Stars reflects the positive outcomes its programs continue delivering in regional areas.
“Mineral Resources is proud to be part of the communities where we operate and we’ve been privileged to see first-hand the amazing work Shooting Stars is doing in support of Aboriginal girls and women across regional WA,” Thurlow said.
“Extending our support as Principal Partner of the Seven Sisters program will help Shooting Stars continue guiding young people to build their confidence and knowledge to grow happy and healthy lives.”
