Laverton and Leonora Shooting Stars participants headed to Perth over the weekend to take part in the 2021 NAIDOC Netball Carnival on Sunday.
Held at the Gold Netball Centre, the NAIDOC Netball Carnival is both an opportunity to introduce Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander netballers to competitive netball, as well as a platform to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Shooting Stars Executive Officer Fran Haintz said it was a great opportunity for the Shooting Stars participants.
“The NAIDOC Netball Carnival is a special event for our participants, combining their love of netball and celebrating culture,” said Haintz.
“The Carnival also provides an opportunity for our participants to represent their communities at a competitive level and feel proud of their achievements.”
This year’s Carnival saw more than 100 teams pass through the gates of the Gold Netball Centre and Perth Netball Association travelling from across the state to proudly represent their communities.
