Shooting Stars is proud to announce a new partnership with GFG Alliance who have committed to support the Shooting Stars program in South Australia.
GFG operate the iron ore mines in the Middleback Ranges near Whyalla as well as the Whyalla Steelworks, making long steel products like rail and structural columns. Our Whyalla Shooting Stars girls were hosted by GFG at their Adelaide office for a corporate experience, with the GFG team sharing various areas of the business with the girls.
After a successful day, which included showing the girls a live currency trade, Denise Sharp, Community Coordinator for GFG Alliance in Whyalla, was excited to share different parts of the business with the participants in the future, saying “we’d also would love to offer tours of both our mining and steelworks to the girls.”
Sanjay Bhartia, Chief Financial Officer representative for GFG Alliance, attended the corporate event to meet the girls and sign the agreement alongside Shooting Stars Executive Officer, Fran Haintz. Of the partnership he said, “the signing of the agreement and having the opportunity to introduce the Shooting Stars participants to our business was a great honour and we are very pleased to have had the chance to host the group at our offices. GFG Alliance as a company fully support the program and encourage the participants to ‘shoot for the stars’ in their future endeavours in whatever they choose to do.”
Shooting Stars Executive Officer, Fran Haintz, spoke about what the GFG Alliance partnership means for the organisation.

GFGs commitment to our program as our first corporate supporter in Whyalla shows great leadership and support for important community priorities such as the empowerment of our participants as they go on their education to employment journey.”
The GFG Alliance partnership will support the recent Shooting Stars expansion into South Australia, working with girls living on Barngarla country, empowering them throughout their education journey.
