Shooting Stars participants from our Laverton and Leonora sites have been given the opportunity to attend the Shooting Stars Senior Leadership Camp this week thanks to Viva Energy.
Krystal Thompson, Amber Thomas and Corteaha Thomas made their way to Perth on Tuesday to experience the city and engage with strong Aboriginal leaders to gain cultural knowledge and understanding, develop project management skills as well as identify post-school pathways.
Previously, the camp has involved 10 participants who have shown great leadership application and school attendance and engagement, however thanks to the support of Viva Energy, Shooting Stars has been able to expand this year’s edition to 13 participants and numerous support staff.
Shooting Stars Executive Officer Fran Haintz said Viva Energy’s contribution has given these girls a once in a lifetime opportunity.
“Congratulations to Krystal, Amber and Corteaha on their hard work and dedication which landed them a spot in the Senior Leadership Camp,” said Haintz.
“The camp will serve as further motivation for these participants to maintain the level of engagement in our program and school and also highlight the positive pathways that are achievable for girls from remote communities.”
Viva Energy Community Manager, Jo Powell said they are delighted to support Shooting Stars.
“The camps provide students with a fantastic opportunity for students to develop a range of new skills and explore post-school pathways,” said Powell.
“Congratulations to Krystal, Amber, Corteaha and all those at Shooting Stars.”
