Shooting Stars is excited to announce St Barbara has renewed their commitment to empowering Aboriginal girls and women for another three-year term.
Since 2018, the Partnership has seen significant advancements in the program, specifically in the Goldfields region. On top of their support, when Shooting Stars hit a roadblock with permanent housing for its Leonora Program Coordinator in 2019, St Barbara came to the rescue with a generous donation to ensure the rollout of the program could continue.
Now in the fourth year of the partnership, St Barbara’s Leonora Operations is affecting genuine change in the lives of over 25 Aboriginal girls annually.
Val Madsen, Executive General Manager People, St Barbara, said, “We’re proud to support the next generation of Indigenous leaders through the Shooting Stars program. Shooting Stars brings to life our commitment of Stronger Communities, with the benefits moving beyond the original aim of school attendance by fostering relationships that give us a s deeper understanding of the community and its people.”
Shooting Stars Executive Officer Fran Haintz is thrilled to welcome St Barbara as a Major Partner once again.
“St Barbara’s continued support is both a testament to the program’s success and an example of an Australian company investing in the remote communities where they operate,” said Haintz.
“Without St Barbara, Shooting Stars would not have been able to expand into the Goldfields region and it’s fantastic to now see young Aboriginal girls in this region given the opportunity to embrace their educational potential.”
“We are very proud that St Barbara has committed for another three years so we can further develop the opportunities we are able to provide to empower our Goldfields participants.”
In 2020, Shooting Stars’ partnership with St Barbara was awarded a Special Commendation award at the DMIRS Community Partnership Resources Sector Awards for its work in empowering the Aboriginal girls and women of Leonora.
