Six former Shooting Stars participants from Carnarvon and Leonora have received scholarships to one of Perth’s leading private schools, St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls.
Alyssa, Keliah, Nirvana, Amber, Chloe and Corteaha commenced at St Hilda’s in Term One of this year where they will board and study for the remainder of their education.
Shooting Stars Executive Officer, Fran Haintz said this was a great achievement for the former participants and a testament to the program.
“To see the girls, grow from when they first joined the Shooting Stars program to now having the confidence to take life changing opportunities like this, is so powerful,” said Haintz.
“I am so proud of the leaders these girls have become and excited to see what their futures have in store for them.”
Shooting Stars invited the former participants to West Coast Fever’s Indigenous Round match, where Shooting Stars was the official Match Day Partner.
“To see the girls, reunite with Shooting Stars staff and their former peers, was very special, seeing that genuine connection.”
“Whilst the girls are no longer participants of the program, they will always remain part of the Shooting Stars sisterhood, and that’s the Shooting Stars way.”
Shooting Stars is proud to be St Hilda’s chosen charity to support for 2021, with the students doing a range of fundraising initiatives to help empower Aboriginal girls and women in remote communities.
