On Friday 12 December, we welcomed staff, partners, supporters and friends to The Ritz-Carlton, Perth to celebrate 10 years of Shooting Stars. The gala was a chance to reflect on how far the program has come, and to recognise the relationships and communities that continue to shape its future.
Guests arrived to a performance by award-winning Noongar Nunga musician Indigo Ellis, before the evening formally opened with a Welcome to Country by Noongar leader, Honey Webb, and a cultural performance by Kwopidak Kenning Yok. We also heard addresses from Shooting Stars Executive Officer Helen Ockerby, Glass Jar Australia Chairperson Dr Glenda Kickett, and guest speaker Hon Simone McGurk MLA.
Across the night, we shared stories and highlights from Shooting Stars, recognised people who have contributed to the program, and heard from partners during a panel discussion. Guests also watched a live artwork created throughout the evening by Karajarri, Naaguja, Noongar, Māori artist and graphic designer Jarnda Councillor-Barns. Celebrations continued with live band Get Groove and DJ Agapantha.
We’re grateful to everyone who attended and helped bring the evening to life. Thank you for being part of the journey, and for the commitment that continues to underpin Shooting Stars.
