As Shooting Stars launched its strategic plan this month, the organisation’s Patron, Hon Julie Bishop, shared her admiration for the program.
“It’s been an honour to be part of Shooting Stars’ journey as its inaugural Patron,” said Ms Bishop.
“Empowering women through education is a matter close to my heart and it is a privilege to be part of an organisation that is focused on not only educational outcomes but also the way in which the program helps shape these young girls to become leaders.”
As the organisation looks to the future, with the strategic plan providing the foundations over the next three years to achieve its vision of empowered Aboriginal girls and women, Julie reflected on Shooting Stars’ impact to date.
“Every time I’ve shared the company of the staff and participants I am in awe of their confidence and their presence,” said Julie.
“These moments, give insight into the strength and resilience that these young girls and women are developing, no doubt due to the work of Shooting Stars.”
Shooting Stars Executive Officer Fran Haintz said it’s been a pleasure having Julie on board as Shooting Stars’ inaugural Patron.
“It’s been an absolute honour having Julie as our Patron,” said Haintz.
“Her support over the last three years has been instrumental to many program developments and she is a great female role model for our staff and our participants.”
