West Coast Fever stars will bring their passion for netball and education to Shooting Stars sites across regional Western Australia.
Shooters Jhaniele Fowler and Beryl Friday recently mingled with Shooting Stars participants in Narrogin.
But more Shooting Stars participants will get the chance to rub shoulders with Suncorp Super Netball elite over the next few months.
Fever Captain Courtney Bruce will head to Halls Creek and Derby in the Kimberley in November.
Bruce, like Fowler, is an Ambassador for Shooting Stars and has been a regular visitor to sites across the State.
The brilliant defender attended a Junior Leadership Camp in the Kimberley last November.
Rising youngster Olivia Lewis will head back to Leonora, following on from her first visit there earlier this year where she was blown away by the impact of the Program.
Popular midcourter and Program Ambassador Verity Charles will also take in the Mid West sites, just as she did in September last year.
Charles, who keeps in regular contact with a number of Shooting Stars participants across the year, will travel to Carnarvon, Meekatharra and Mullewa during her time.
Shooting Stars Executive Officer Fran Haintz said the positive influence from the players was important to reinforce the Program’s mission to help more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls become and stay engaged in school.
“Courtney, Jhaniele, Olivia and Verity are not just great netballers but great people and they have an uplifting influence on our Shooting Stars girls,” Haintz said.
“We are very fortunate to have role models like Courtney, Jhaniele and Verity, who are both Ambassadors and have been engaged with the Program for some time.”
“But it’s also wonderful to see Olivia, who is new to the team, embracing Shooting Stars. Olivia is only 20 years of age and the girls can really relate to her.”
The visits continue a significant year for the Program, which saw the Gold Industry Group join as its inaugural Premier Partner, with the whole of sport partnership also extending to West Coast Fever as an Elite Partner.
