Hedland Sunsets
The Hedland dress depicts the beautiful sunsets that are seen from the area and the colours of the landscape. The symbol is a meeting place, which is what Shooting Stars is for its participants.
"Over the past year it has been nice to watch our Hedland participants grow into the program and adapt to the Shooting Stars way, such as, knowing our values Pride, Success, Respect and striving to uphold them. I, Sarah Ramirez a Ngarluma/Yindjibarndi (Father's side) Naaguja/Bibbulmun (Mother's side) woman who was born and raised in Hedland, it brings comfort to know there is an Indigenous girls program to help navigate the next generation through school in a culturally sensitive manner. I am proud of the Shooting Stars program for the safe place and multiple opportunities they provide to our participants." - Sarah Ramirez, Hedland Program Coordinator
