As part of Shooting Stars' Art with the Stars at the end of 2025, Kiara College participants worked alongside local artists Razzy Mak and Zero to create an original rap, sharing their ideas, experiences and creativity through music.
Art with the Stars connects participants with local Aboriginal artists to yarn, learn, explore cultural identity and connect to Country through creative practices. Every project looks a little different, and this one quickly turned into something special.
With support from videographer Jed Lyall, the rap was transformed into a music video. Together, Razzy, Zero and Jed run the It's a Rap program, working with young mob to create original music and bring their stories to life on screen.

The It's a Rap team also worked with Shooting Stars to create a short behind-the-scenes documentary, capturing the creative journey beind the project. Featuring reflections from the participants, artists and Shooting Stars staff, the film offers a glimpse into the creativity, teamwork and learning that shaped the project, and the impact it had on everyone involved.

At Shooting Stars, creating opportunities for young people to express themselves, explore their identities and share their stories is an important part of what we do. This project is a powerful reminder of what can happen when young people are given the space, support and confidence to tell their stories in their own way.
