The investment will bolster the Shooting Stars program – an engagement initiative delivered in partnership with schools and local communities.
Shooting Stars Executive Officer, Helen Ockerby, said the renewed partnership would help Shooting Stars expand its reach and impact.
“MinRes is a committed and values-aligned partner of our program, and we are grateful to continue this long-standing partnership,” Helen said.
“This renewed investment strengthens our ability to grow Shooting Stars and deepen our work within schools and communities while continuing to walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women as they build their aspirations and pursue the futures they choose.”
“It will also create more opportunities for participants to explore pathways beyond school, including further education, training and employment.”
In addition to a financial contribution, MinRes further supports the program through its Wodgina site team, which provides in-kind assistance at Shooting Stars events in Port Hedland. MinRes has also opened its internal NextGen Scholarship program to Shooting Stars alumni and offers exposure visits to its locations to inspire future career paths.
MinRes Manager Communities and Stakeholder Engagement Daniel Barker reflected on the strength of the partnership.
“MinRes is proud to have supported Shooting Stars for the past eight years. We’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact the program has in nurturing confidence, ambition and leadership among young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and we are excited to continue this journey together,” Daniel said.
“Over this time, we’ve been proud to grow our involvement beyond just financial support, providing more opportunities for participants to develop relationships and explore wider opportunities available.”
The renewed commitment reinforces MinRes’ dedication to fostering meaningful community partnerships that create lasting opportunities and positive social outcomes.
