Growing with the Six Noongar Seasons
Care instructions for your pot plant
In this box, you'll find a terracotta pot, a dehydrated seed pod, and some native seeds.
At home: get your flower pot ready to grow!
1. Wake up your soil
Put your coconut fibre pellet in a waterproof bowl. Add warm water and watch it expand to about three times its size. Pour away extra water.
2. Plant your seeds
Gently loosen the damp fibre and sprinkle a few seeds in the hole on top. Cover with a very thin layer of the damp fibre. Save the extra seeds!
3. Place the pod in your pot
You won't need to fill your pot with soil straight away, but later on once the seeds have sprouted, you might like to fill your pot with some extra potting mix.
4. Give them a drink
Water gently. Keep the soil lightly damp, not soggy.
5. Find a bright spot
Keep your pot somewhere warm and bright, away from strong direct sunlight while seeds sprout. Check it every day.
6. Add some more potting mix
When your seeds have sprouted and have grown a few centimetres, add some more potting mix or garden soil to fill your pot.
7. Watch your flowers grow
When your flowers are about 8 cm tall, move them into a sunny garden or bigger pot.

A few helpful tips
Water: Check the soil daily. Add a little water when the surface starts to dry. Let extra water drain away. Sunshine: Young seedlings need bright light; established flowers love a sunny spot. Patience: Flowers may be ready in around 10–14 weeks, depending on growing conditions. Safety: Keep seeds away from children under 3. Young children should be supervised during planting. Protect your artwork: Remove your paper pot wrap before watering if it could get wet.
