Give us a snap shot of what your day to day job consists of:
A day for me would be going into the girls class rooms and helping them with the work that they might get stuck on. I also plan recess and lunch time activities for the girls.
What do you love most about your job?
What I love about this job is being able to give these girls the help I never got during school and inspiring them to create goals for themselves and helping to achieve them.
How has working with Shooting Stars benefitted you?
It has taught me a lot of new skills like communication and goal setting it has also helped my confidence with public speaking.
What attracted you to the role?
What attracted me was not only the Netball side of the program but also the education as I know how important education is to young growing minds, especially when the girls want to do further learning, after they graduate year 12, at University or TAFE. As for the netball, I haven’t played for about 3-4 years so it good to have that connection with the sport again.
How do you envisage the programme evolving in the future?
I believe this program has the potential to expand to other states around Australia, from there creating a Shooting Stars State Championship. I think that it would be a great motive for the girls to work hard on their attendance, school work and netball skills, it would also be a great opportunity for exposure within the sport.
